Well after enjoying to back to back trails and meeting some really great people. I have finally made it home after 6,500 miles. While on the Katy Trail I met John Cook who was riding across the country for the cause of trying to get some laws changed in DC about the health care. But after I enjoyed the Katy Trail I ended up taking a train from Saint Louis, MO to Pittsburgh, PA which then I road down the Allegheny Passage to DC. It was a very enjoyable ride with everything coming into bloom and yes I did encountered some cold and wet weather. I am already panning my next Destination somewhere. I am going to be getting some newer and lighter weight gear. Just something about being able to put everything in 4 bags sounds like a good plan. Until I am back on the road check out my facebook I seem to update that more often than this site.

Well I'll be heading to the Katy Trail head in Clinton, MO on Wednesday morning. I have all the info I need on it. Kind of excited for this 225 rail to trail across Missouri. It rides up next to the Missouri River. Then I will high tail across Indiana and Illinois. I think there's a trail in Ohio(rails to trails) that connects to the Alligany Passage in Pittsburgh. I kind of wish I had the maps from Ohio there. But I think I will google it on the computer tomorrow.
I been having a great time here in the Kansas City area visiting family. It's been so many years since I been out here and I think I might have to come out this way more often. So much to do in Missouri, and the rolling hills and fresh green grass and trees. Then there's the Ozarks I'm going to have to check out sometime in the summer time.

Well as I sit here outside my hotel room and listen to the Carnival going on. I think I've cycled 45 miles before 11am. I'm tiered and had enough margaritas for the night. This Carnival is going on all weekend here in San Felipe Mexico. So I figure I'll continue this siesta tomorrow. I've had a long ride to get here and yesterday was a terrible day to be on the bicycle. For the fact it only got to a 50 high and rained as soon as I started to pedal. I did a 42 mile day yesterday by 12 and would of got here but my feat where numb and I just couldn't factor that it was dropping in temp. So I found a spot off the highway 5 here in Mexico and pitched the tent. I could still see the highway from where I pitched but the fact I was soaked and cold I really didn't care if I was on the lawn of the White House in the US. I needed to get warm and did so. But I'm here for a few days and I now found the #1 beach to go to.?

Well I'm here in Calexico, CA and about to go into Mexico. I figure tomorrow morning would be best. Besides I need to get a new cable lock for my bicycle. I still have my U lock, but I'm terrible of loosing cables. I figure I can go to San Felipe beach on the gulf of California and chill for a bit. I got slapped in the face for 2 days trying to get thru the mountains to San Diego, CA but not happening. So I'm going to Chillax in Mexico for a bit and tour thru that country.?
I just hope I know enough Spanish to get by.

Well I've lost the guy I was riding with out of El Paso. Last I saw he decided to get on 10 wile I got on 84.
Here I am in Gila Bend, AZ. Last night was a great first night in a week or so I didn't here a train or traffic from a nearby road. All I could here was coyotes howling all night.
I went to fill my water bottles and check why my bicycle was pulling to the left. Well I lost a brand new smart water on the right pannier. Dam that sucks, because I'm about to right thru the next 110 miles of nothing but desert.
I pulled of the cycling shoes and thru the chacoes on. I figure 80 during the day I should try to get rid of the wight feet and even up the tan line up a bit. Well the next time anyone will here from me will be in Yuma, AZ, then finally I'll be in California.
When I get a chance to pull out the laptop I will upload some pictures.

Well finally out of Texas last night. So just a few hundred miles to San Diego, CA. Someone suggested I take 28 into Las Cruses, NM. It was a long and boring ride, then I had the dog problem. I think taking the Frontage road with a shoulder would of been more interesting and more fun. Monday will be taking 10 west all the way to Tucson, AZ. At least there's a nice shoulder and I know where the good spots to camp are at. Then just a few hundred miles to San Diego, CA. Which the weather will be nice nice and warm there and on the way there. The guy Ken who is riding with me is allot slower than me and does allot of bitching. Well just a couple of weeks until I'm on a beach in Mexico Baha.

To the state of Texas highway system. At least you can do on a 74 mile stretch on route 90 is put a portajon, and maybe a drinking fountain. For F-sake everytime I would find a nice and quite spot to dig a hole to firtalize the desert. Bam border patrol be somewhere watching me. I mean come one what kind of criminal act can someone be doing. Then have the nerve to ask someone what are they doing behind the shrub when in one hand a shovel, the other half a roll of tolite paper and baby wipes under my arm. Ahhhhhh!!! Well finally made it here in Van Horn, TX. Now to find a grocery store.

Well I had a great stay at my warm shower host place here in Langtry, TX. It's a great spot to stop and check out the town. I would highly recommend coming here. Keith Mann who is the one who has a great spot there on the east side of town on the east side of 25 and 90. If you need to buy a few things to get you to the next town he keeps things mildly stocked for a lot cheaper than on the west part if town. If you need a break off the road he's got a coue spots to rent for daily to weekly maybe if you need to wait out some bad weather for a month if needing. But I hit my first bad head wind yesterday, and still heading west. I'm hoping to be in southern Cali the end of the month. Well in marathon, TX there is a bike hostel I'm hoping to hook up the laptop and upload alot of pics. So until Marathon, love, peace, and bicycle grease.

2012 I have some big plans for myself. I'm hoping by my Birthday I will have all possessions sold, or given away that I have stored in my van and truck. Then I want to be in the UK and start east across Europe then beyond. I figure I've learn to live very cheap and simple for the past 3 years on the road. I figure I might keep 4 large touts stored with very personal things and some of my backpacking gear. Big plans for myself in 2012. But I'm doing good out here in Texas. I'm near San Antono and still on my way to the west coast. Not sure where to go after that but I'll have to make it back to the East by about May. I'm seem not to upload any pictures thru the iPod touch I've been blogging with. But when ever I get a chance and a full day to be on the Internet. Then believe it I'm going to add some pics. You can go to my Facebook, which has been easier to upload pics. Until the next time.

Well my host from last night warm shower has cycled across Texas. So I have a great route laid out and notes of the good spots for camping and things to do. All of my cycling friends have dreaded crossing Texas but I think I'm going to have fun. Once I get going I am going to be following 90 west except to go around San Antonio wich Darrel my host from last night gave a very nice route. As I started to head west I'm noticing a slight head wind. So I'm hoping to at least get 50 a day, but I will do the best I can to do more. Also I was told about the bicycle hostel off of 90. Woo hoo I'm hoping to meet some travelers along the way. Until next time.
